Homebuilding Trends to Lookout for in 2021, Part 2

Happy Wednesday! We are back with more building trends to look out for in 2021.

1. Statement Laundry Rooms

This a unique one for sure, but is also something we have been seeing more and more of in the last few years. We have been seeing a lot of rooms that have been typically considered exclusively functional, without any niceties needed. But laundry rooms are becoming a space for us to continue to add sprinkles of our favorite colors, design trends, or even a fun piece of furniture and not excluding it from the rest of the home. If you have extra space in your home, consider expanding your laundry room! Add organized hanging hampers with labels, a comfortable area for folding clean laundry, and a display with glass jars full of all of your laundering (a word for detergent, dryer sheets etc.)

2. Lavish Back Yards

In this last year, most of us have spent more time at home than ever. This has definitely created a new wave of design trends in the home, as we look to make our home a one stop shop for indoor and outdoor living. Creating the feeling of an outdoor retreat is becoming increasingly popular, as more people bring the comfort of their home outdoors. Adding a portable bar, some string lights, and investing in extra comfortable, weather proof furniture is a great way to ensure that your outdoor space will be the talk of the neighborhood.

3. Everything Vintage

For those of us whose ideal Saturday is a day of antiquing, this trend is for you! Retro, antique, or repurposed furniture pieces are finding their way back into many homes, even those with modern design. These pieces provide a pop of something unique, as well as providing a fun contrast from the rest of the home. Start slow and easy with a fun lamp from a local antique store, or go as far as to buy a new lounge for your master suite from a local shop that specializes in vintage design! This is a trend we don’t see going away any time soon!

4. Shabby Chic

The shabby chic style won’t be going away anytime soon. The shabby chic style perfectly embodies sophistication and raw sense of luxury. It combines the modern with the classic vintage pieces I referenced in the Everything Vintage trend. For those looking to achieve a cottage core, or farmhouse aesthetic, diving into the world of Shabby Chic design might just be the answer to any home design stumbling blocks.

And just like that, the last resource post of 2020! We can’t wait to see what the next year brings to this page. We are looking forward to giving you all more resources, stories, and behind the scenes in 2021!
