Top Kitchen Flooring Options for 2022

blog-hero-kitchen The kitchen is the heart of the home, making it also the most high traffic area of the home. This makes selecting durable flooring an absolute must when designing your kitchen. Today we are going to go through a few of our favorite options when it comes to durable kitchen flooring.

blog-hero-kitchen-1 Hardwood Everyone loves hardwood it seems, and that includes in the kitchen! Hardwood by nature is durable, but its weakness in the past has been its susceptibility to water damage. But now, thanks to modern sealers and polyurethane finishes, hardwood can maintain its integrity even in moisture-prone areas. A con of hardwood is that it can be dented or scratched over time, but on the flip side, hardwood is great for home resale. It remains a viable choice when it comes to selecting your new kitchen floor.

blog-hero-kitchen-3 Natural Stone Tile Natural Stone is one of the most popular, durable, long lasting kitchen flooring options on the market. With endless options, you can find a natural stone tile to fit any home style. Some of these include slate, granite, and marble, just to name a few! Slate can last decades if maintained well, and sealed regularly. Granite is beautiful, and can withstand the test of time if maintained correctly! One drawback to stone is that it is more susceptible to water, which is a common problem in the kitchen, but with an application of a quality penetrating stone sealer, you can avoid water damage.

blog-hero-kitchen-2 Concrete Now this is one of my personal favorites. Concrete is an inexpensive, and long lasting material. It is a great option for homes without basements, but it is possible to have a concrete kitchen floor even in homes with basements, but with the support of a lot of steel. For those with modern style, concrete is the perfect fit. It can be stained, polished, or treated in many different ways to create the right look for many different styles of homes. It can be very cold underfoot, and definitely fits a certain style of home which is something to consider with resale value. But for many who seek a modern aesthetic, concrete kitchen floors are a dream option!

Ceramic Tile Ceramic tile is a very popular kitchen flooring option. The tiles are made from natural clay, and then shaped, glazed, and fired under high heat. The end result is a highly durable tile that is unaffected by water, and not susceptible to staining. Under normal conditions, ceramic tile can last indefinitely with little change to its appearance or function over time. Similar to concrete, it can be very cold underfoot, but you can easily install underfloor heating before installing your ceramic tiles to eliminate this issue. Ceramic tile comes in all colors, shapes, and sizes, and can fit the style of any home!

These are just a few of our favorite kitchen flooring options, but the list goes on! We hope this helped you on your journey to selecting the right kitchen flooring material for your home.
